Anyone change home insurance provider while a claim is outstanding?

Our insurance policy is up for renewal next week and we want to change provider. A claim is outstanding following storm damage and we've sent all quotes in and so know the total claim amount but not the settlement figure.

I've quoted the claim amount as outstanding when applying for a new policy and have a couple of renewal options. What I don't know is whether changing provider will impact on the settlement of our claim.

I'd be grateful to her from anyone who has experience of this.

Changing provider won't impact on your existing claim - your current insurer is legally obliged to deal with it provided that it falls within your current policy conditions. (Not had this myself but I'm an insurance lawyer so know what I'm talking about Smile)

Thanks for that :)

I called them earlier, they've pushed our claim through and offered a great price for renewal so decided to stay with them this year as other companies wouldn't consider insuring us once I stressed that the existing claim hadn't yet been settled.
