I need to know urgently if there is anyway of checking if the property on sale has been burgled in the past or if there was any issues with a noise and antisocial behaviour? Can i just contact the council and police?
I would be grateful for any help.

The topic should have been selling and buying Wink

There's no 100% way of knowing. Previously, when vendors have completed the "Sellers Questionnaire", I've often asked my solicitor to include 'additional questions' relating to burglaries, disputes with neighbours etc.

Neighbour disputes are covered on the forms anyway, but if you ask the same question twice, people have no excuse for not thinking about the 'true' answer.

Of course, if you have to go to court to get recompense for lies - it could be a very expensive business - and would you really do this? - in the end you have to rely on your instincts.

Anti-social issues in an area around a property are more difficult to discover - ask the vendor when viewing. Visit the street regularly at different times.

Why do you need to know? Is this for the sellers information pack? If so, you can't be expected to know what happened before you owned it, you can only answer based on what's happened while you've been the owner unless it's to do with the structure of the building or something, eg past subsidence

This question was on the questionaire our sellers had to fill in. Do you want to find out before you make an offer?
