I severed the cord!

Hi. This is the first time I have posted in DIY but I need help from wise people! I was cutting our hedges at the weekend and I cut the electrical cord with the blade. I had no fuse breaker thingy on it and OH says I'm lucky to be alive (eek)! Anyway, it was the first time id used it - can it be fixed or am I in trouble with OH? Blush

I think you can get a new cord. Not sure where but I vaguely remember my SF fixing mine when I cut it - thankfully with a fuse break so I'm still standing if not a little twitchy Grin

You can get a new cable too - I used to mow over the lead of the mower. Grin

you really must use an RCD Adaptor on any electrical equipment used outdoors, unless the circuit itself has an RCD and you have tested it, on the day, by pressing the "T" or "Test" button and verifying that the circuit goes dead until you reset it.

Do not grab the cable ends in your panic, despite the RCD. RCDs characteristics are calculated so that the size of the current, and the length of time, will most likely not be fatal. That doesn't mean that the shock will be fun.

We were given a hedge trimmer by my FIL as he had this massive hedge removed, it was severed and put back together in two places Grin

It is a constant reminder to be careful and you really should use an RCD. I do, everytime clumsy

Hee hee. Thank you! I am indeed clumsy a total numpty and so will take more care let OH do it next time.

Where do you think I could get it repaired?
