That sinking feeling...!

Hello folks.
I'm in a DIYSOS nightmare at the mo. having had my kitchen ripped out it is currently a bare shell and I am slowly putting together the idea units.
I have dreamed of an undermounted sink with draining grooves for as long as I can remember and now starting to think it can't happen. Has anyone managed to undermount an IKEA DOMSJO sink in one of their FAKTUM units that is also designed to have waste sorting below? Is there enough room to drop the sink? I know I would have to modify the base unit in some way and if anyone could say in simple terms how to do this I could pass it on to my carpenter.

I have been through a week of hell since this renovation started and I really don't want to get to the end and not have the kitchen I want. I know I sound neurotic but it's always been about this flipping undermounted sink with expensive iroko worktops.......help!

This might be a daft question but have you got the correct base unit for an undermounted sink? If so there should be no issue. Confused

I've been round and found the houses on this one and the official line from ikea is "you can only undermount sinks to their acrylic bespoke worktops, none can be undermounted with wood and the domsjo sink can't be undermounted AT ALL". I give up. I surrender. I shall not have an undermounted sink this time round. Now to find a freestanding draining board.....

It is possible to undermount sinks with wooden worktops, but as you say Ikea don't seem to do any. Lakeland do various free standing drainers, also Joseph & Joseph (sorry no good at doing the link thing).
You could always router the grooves in to the worktop, just ensure you seal it after?
