Headboards for beds - are there any unusal ones anywhere?

Headboard/bed head - I'm never sure what the right description is.

Decorating our bedroom at some stage soon I hope. I want something different but they're either plain and padded, pine (not my thing), or iron which looks uncomfortable.

I don't know what I want, just something a bit um..different.

Some ideas I have seen

• buttoned padded

• squares of padding in a chequerboard (sp?) effect rather than all one fabric

• massive antique mirror used as headboard (very boudoir)

• wall stickers used as a sort of trompe l'oeil headboard (try googling wall sticker headboard) or stencils for a similar effect

• panel of wallpaper going up behind the bed as an extended headboard effect

Ah thank you mini. Some good suggestions there (yikes to mirror though). I quite like the wallpaper/sticker idea. Will investigate.
