Kitchen surface for breakfast bar - very wide???

Another question for all you wonderful kitchen MNers!

We're fitting a peninsula, which will have the stove in it, so we want it extra wide. It will be 1200mm, which is wider than the standard 900mm that most laminates come in. We've pretty much decided on laminate, having been put off the idea of acrylics on basis on cost, scratching and staining. (And don't like stone...)

But don't seem to be able to find laminates in 1200mm. Am I missing something obvious? Surely lots of people have wide breakfast bars and islands???

Thanks!

here?

I googled '1200mm wide laminate worktop' and several came up. Might have to be a special order though, and the choice may not be massive.

Thanks for that, fresh. I'd also found them, but they are miles from me (SE) and only work in area around macclesfield. I suppose I was wondering what people normally use for their islands etc... which are (surely?!) wider than 900mm???
thanks!

Look below, click the Getalit pdf download (top one) based in watford

www.bsproducts.co.uk/index.php?f=data_home&a=1

they do a 1200 wide on a few. they will give you the name of your local supplier.

Failing that - butt 2 x 600's up together, that would be the only other way

Thanks so much... My local kitchen place is clearly talking rubbish. I've now talked to getalit and they can do this as a special order... It'll take 2-3 weeks... No idea re cost....maybe it'll end up as expensive as the acrylics!
