Grand Designs Live - am I mad to take a 5 year old?

DH and I really want to go on Saturday but have used up all our babysitting credits with the GPs! Is it madness to take our 5 year old DS? Haven't been to a home exhibition for many, many years so can't even conceive whether it will be really boring for DS and will end up being a stressful, nightmare Hmm

It's usually a really good show, but not a whole lot for a 5 y.o to do. And although there are some food stalls, it's not like Good Food where you can distract them with free samples at every turn.

To be honest, it's a lot of walking and little to entertain a child. When I went with DH, I was nearly in tears and begging to go home by the time we'd finished, and I was about 35 at the time Grin.

Sounds a bit like hard work to me. Can you not find a different babysitter - child swop?

Yeah - sounds like it is really worth going so will really try to get a sitter...

LOL Ghanagirl! We've sorted a babysitter so we are good to go. But my friend has just told me that she went last year and didnt find it that inspiring. Oh well, gotta start somewhere...

I went earlier in the week (took 6 week old in the sling, left the bigger two with grandpa). I don't think it is amazing, but it has its uses. You can chat to lots of different suppliers within one trip rather than trekking around a bunch of different showrooms etc.

I had some useful chats, picked up some business cards etc for suppliers whose stuff I liked the look of, and got the hell out before it started doing my head in! I stayed a couple of hours - wouldn't be able to face all day.
