Art work - what do you have on your walls ?

We've had our house painted recently so at the weekend, Dh got his drill up with the intention of putting our 'art' on the walls. Looking at it, I've gone off most of it as it's around 10 yrs old. I had a bit of a thing about Mackenzie Thorpe a few years ago & have a few limited editions, which are ok, the rest is tat.

Would like to buy maybe 1 or 2 decent prints/limited editions, but not seeing anything I fancy. ( not liking black & white yachts/Edward Hopper/doug Hyde)

Any suggestions ? Local art shops not got much going on either :-/

We have Herts and Bucks Open Studios around here. There's also Somerset Art Week. These are when artists/makers open their studios/workshops up for the general public to buy. Much cheaper than galleries (which tend to add on 40%) and you could get something commissioned. If you're not around here try your local library or art shop for details for your county.

Alternatively, try the art colleges, end of year/finals shows are coming up very soon.

We've got some lovely paintings from artist's open houses too. The Brighton festival starts this weekend and has a huge number of open houses if you are anywhere near. It goes on for a month.
