I feel sick, came home today to find no less than40 flys in the kitchen, it made me feel sick. what can it be and how can i get rid of them?

has anyone been in this position before? we had rats a few weeks ago and seem to have sorted the problem but i think this might be linked?...experiences and advise please!

it'll pass....there'll have been a rotting rat corpse somewhere!

you could probably google for details of fly type and life cycle if you want to be all CSI about it!

spray, then hoover up the dead ones.

it will be a body, probably under the floor.

GrendelsMum · 30/04/2012 20:20

Think about it like this - they've just removed a rat's dead body for you. Open the windows, let them out, and keep letting them out until they're gone.

update: things are a bit better today. there are still a few flies but not as bad as ysterday. hopefully this will be the end of them.

It goes on for a while, in my experience! We just kept opening the windows and letting them out. Luckily this was in a room we weren't using, so not as bad as yours.

You do need to make sure that you're keeping all food covered, all surfaces clear, all washing up done promptly, etc.

marilynmonroe · 02/05/2012 17:54

when you say a while? how long was that?
We are doing all what you say but it does not seem to be working.

Im worried as we are going on holiday in a couple of weeks and need it to be sorted before then other wise our house will be taken over by flies. It makes me feel v v sick.

Couple of weeks before it tailed off?

marilynmonroe · 02/05/2012 18:36

Not sure I can cope for that long. Oh god....I don't feel like cooking or being in the kitchen.

Well, you could try and sniff out the dead rat and remove it?

Bluebell99 · 02/05/2012 22:53

When we had a problem like that , it was a dead bird in the chimney behind the gas fire. Had to get the chimney sweep round and now have a net thing on top of the chimney.
