Have found Rightmove mirage - is there any point enquiring?

Our house isn't on the market, hubby doesn't want to move...but have found the PERFECT house. Ours is nice but it's modern, no character and in suburbia. This house is in a perfect little village in great area. Right size, great price. Happy here but would be happier there I reckon. I always have in the back of my head that suburbia isn't for me, look for property every day. What should I do if anything? Is there any point bearing in mind we're not yet in the situation to move? Would love some advice.

I was in this situation 10 years ago.

I rang the estate agent and made a viewing appt, told dh when he came back from work that we eere goign to see a house the next day. Saw it, fell in love with it. DH still wasn't sure but the house was in my name only so I put it up for sale!

I saw the house in teh paper on Friday, saw it for real on Sat, had our house on the market on the Tuesday and sold it to the first viewers the following Monday. We moved 8 weeks later.

Go and have a look.

Ooh Viva! Looking at it is almost like committing in a weird way isn't it?! Thanks for advice, am going to ring estate agents tomorrow.

It's such a conundrum isn't it Tizzy, especially if you don't HAVE to move.

What Viva says can work but what usually happens it what we (stupidly) did and went to look at houses to get a feel for what we could get for our money before putting ours on, fell in love with one and it was of course snapped up by someone else instantly.

Once we put our house on the market and got a buyer in place, we saw an even better house that we totally loved and were able to offer immediately in a very good buying position.

Go and see it by all means, but TRY not to get overexcited and if you do love it, put yours on the market immediately at a very realistic price.

Thanks for your feedback ladies. I have phoned up this morning as the agent suggested I go and have a look outside before booking a viewing. The reason it's such a fabulous price is that it's an old station house and the line is still in use. Now I don't think that would bother me but it might not been it's snapped up as quick. Would you both consider an old station house? Wouldn't want to buy a white elephant! Ticks all the other boxes - isn't it always the case!

Depends on the train line and if there's freight at night.
Friends lived next to East Coast mainline. They only realised how much it had affected their sleep and relaxation after they had moved away.

Definitely go and have a drive past and stand outside listening for trains, presumably the station house is pretty much on the track?! Might be awful noise.

When something seems to good to be true, it usually is... (bitter house hunting experience!)

Will it not vibrate every time train goes past?
