options for kitchen flooring with chipboard base

Hi everyone.
What are my options for kitchen/diner flooring over a chipboard floor (no concrete sub-floor). I have solid oak in the bedroom laid over the same chipboard, and think I would like it in the kitchen too, but am nervous about crud getting stuck between the boards.
Housework is not my forte, and I have heaps of animals to take care of, so really I should prioritise hygiene and ease of cleaning.
The room is south facing with big windows so very light and sunny. In the past I have always had worn out vinyl. Yuch!

You can have solid wood with tongue and groove so no gaps or engineered wood, also has no gaps.

I know this as we have the same in our kitchen and this is what I have been told by a few builders and kitchen fitters.
