Has anyone done this? I've seen loads of lovely things I would like to buy from american sites but all state that they won't ship outside of the US. Are there any ways around this?
Thanks all

We shipped a load of furniture from Bali. But we arranged it while we were there in person - bought the furniture, spent a day ringing round shipping companies and stood and watched while the furniture was loaded onto the shipping company's truck to make sure they collected the right stuff. Felt like Christmas when the boxes all arrived six months later!

I don't know how you'd do it remotely, though it must be possible. Try having a word with some shipping companies.

We shipped personal possessions from the US but can't see how it would be cost effective to buy there and also ship. We literally left all our furniture there as it made no sense to bring it back to the UK
Bali is different, as there is a price difference for the furniture.
What are you looking at?
Can people on here help you find similar in he UK?
5 months to get our stuff here in a container.

Thanks for the replies, I was just wondering because I can buy some things similar in UK but it's the same price or more in pounds as it is in dollars in the US so I was just wondering if there was a way of doing it. I thought that it would probably be a nightmare though trying to organise it!
Oh well, back to the drawing board!

I just had a little google and found this site BongoUS. It looks as if they set you up with a US address (belonging to Bongo), you then buy the item and have it delivered to that address, you then arrange delivery to the UK via Bongo. Worth a look?

You will have to pay Customs Duty and VAT so it will prob not be worth it - that and it will take and age more info here on taxes
