How soon do you get viewings when you put your house up for sale?

I am probably being a bit impatient but I wondered how long it takes before you get any viewings? Our house went on the market last Wednesday and we haven't had any interest. I am biased but I think our house is a good buy -close to town, huge garden etc. It is on the Agents website and Rightmove and went in the Agent's window this week.

How long is a piece of string? I'm afraid there is no standard answer. It depends entirely on how fast properties are moving in your area, how realistically your property is priced, and how many other similar properties are on the market. My friend just got an asking price offer on the first viewing, two days after going on the market. So in some places it can be very fast. Good luck.

Besides their website and rightmove how else are your estate agents marketing it? I would of thought by now they should of done a mailshot/emailed the particulars to their database of prospective buyers and should of had at least a couple of viewings lined up. I'd get onto them and ask what they are doing. After a week anyway I'd expect them to feed back to me what reaction they are getting to your property.

Hi, they said they were going to contact people on their database. I will check. We looked round a house with another agent at the weekend and they said the market had gone quiet since the bad weather and constant rain started.
I think it is priced realistically compared to others. It is difficult to compare because the other 3 bed semis on, are on a new estate and are smaller and cheaper and ours is 1920s and in the older part of town and more spacious. Similar 3 beds but bigger and on our side of town have sold recently and they have been priced at about £40,000 more.

Keep on top of your agents in my experience if you do they tend to want to get your house sold quicker to get rid of you! Well thats what one told me once, though he did say if I wasn't moving he'd of offered me a job as well! Not surprised about the weather putting people off looking it is miserable house hunting in the wet. Just keep your fingers crossed for a dry bank holiday. Good luck sounds like you have the best out of what's on the market just need one good viewing.

we have been having 2/3 viewings a week since. nt sure if that's a lot!

EdlessAllenPoe, that puts ours to shame! Whereabouts are you? We are E Yorkshire.

Estate agent called earlier to say a couple were interested but put off because they don't like the street and would prefer an old house on a cul de sac. Its frustrating as ours is a really quiet street and if we could just get people through the door they would realise!!
Are people quite set in their ways about what they want do you think? As a buyer I think i am quite flexible and would look at lots of different things rather than having a set of rigid rules.

i certainly have rules about what i will/won't see. this limits us to very few properties..
we are in West Sussex. am not in a hurry as the property i originally wanted to buy is sold STC to someone else...

Is the house on Zoopla? If it is you can see how many times the house had been looked at online. Also your agent should send you details of the number of searches on Rightmove.

I think the first 2 weeks are vital, if you have had no interest it does suggest you could be overpriced. Are there any similar houses in the road?

We had viewings lined up as soon as we agreed the deal, before in fact. It took a couple of days to get the agent the paperwork, in the meantime they had lined up 3 viewings for that weekend!

Have to say tho that lots of viewings does not necessarily = a sale; it was five weeks before we got our first offer.

Well we had 2 viewings at the weekend so that was a week and a half after going on the market. We had a drive by that we saw too but that hasn't amounted to anything. I think the drive by might put people off as further down the street there are a few scruffy houses and a block of council flats, maybe that might bother people? there is also a junior school at the other end of the street. Am i painting a pleasant picture!?
