its about shower sealant. theres so many, i dont mind paying but what is the best one? and how do i get the old stuff off. any advice appreciated thanks.

it will be silicon, not Mastic.

Mastic used to be used, for at least five thousand years until about 1980. It is the sap from a bush called a Mastic bush (this is true) and the ancient greeks used it as a sealant and also as chewing gum. Hence "mastication".

You can get a silicone sealant remover which you dap on and it softens. If it is rather old, rather hard, and cracked, it might be Acrylic sealant which is not as good but used to be easier than the early silicone sealants which were very sticky so difficult to use. I am not very good at silicone sealant.

You can now buy a triangular tool in non-stick plastic to help smooth it.
