Where to live, near Chiswick?

We currently live in the States but we will be moving to London with my husband's job for 4 months over the summer. He will be working in Chiswick and would like a pretty short commute so he can be home in time for tea with our little boy.
We don't know London at all and aren't going to get a chance to come over and check it out before we move (husband's company will be sorting out our accommodation for us), so I'd be really grateful for any recommendations of nice places to live near Chiswick? Luckily for us we won't be paying the rent so cost isn't an issue (within reason!)
Thanks in advance...

When do you arrive?

He'll be working somewhere on Chiswick High Road - due to start on 1st July so we'll be there shortly before then I guess...

Eek, hope you are ok? Was Mr Mitchell headteacher when you wet there? Or Miss Lee (when I had her in fourth year she had recently married and become Mrs De Pol, but think she'd been there a long time)

Married - consider Grove Park? Easy walk to Gunnersbury and the business park, near the river, lovely houses. Gunnersbury is on a district line branch but not a problem, and also on the north London line.

Bella - yes am ok but on crutches which is a nightmare with stairs and children!! Aaaarggghh. No dont remember Mr Mitchell, I was waaaay before your time, head was Mrs Bleakley and best teacher was Miss Hutchens?? (I think), it was a looooong time ago! Lovely school though, I have fond memories, except for Debbie, who was queen bee in year 6 and ruled us with an iron rod - there's always one! Grin.

Married - Chiswick Business Park is a great place to work, lovely environment with lots going on - they are always organising events and fun days for families. My DH really likes it there - his office moved in about a year ago - and we live a 5 min walk away between high road and river. You will love it here.
