Bathroom tiles.

Just wanted to draw on others experiences here.
We are currently having our bathroom refurbished in preparation for our dotage!
Having bath taken out and large(ish) shower enclosure fitted.
We are tiling the shower enclosure and the question is, we are having large tiles (less grout to get mildew in) but should we opt for glossy tiles or tiles with a matt finish.
I wonder if matt finish would be better as we live in an area where the water is very, very hard.
Any comments?
Thanking y'all in anticipation.

I'd go for matt. Much easier to keep looking clean.

Actually I'd say opposite: glossy on walls, matt on floor.

I also live in a hard water area and I have glossy tiles. You will need to wipe them down with a wiper after a shower or the watemarks will show. They do look good though and dirty grout not a problem at all esp if you get 1.5mm grout lines.

Gloss are ok if they are white/light but dark ones show up every bit of lime deposit and are a nightmare.
