Making the scout hut more environmentally friendly. And grants available?

We have old bar heaters on the walls in our scout hut. They aren't very efficient at distributing heat and I'm told they're not very cost efficient either.
DH has suggested I see if we might get a grant from somewhere to install some more environmentally friendly system but I confess tht I don't really know where to start looking. so, as always when I am at a loss, I've turned to Mumsnet Smile
Any ideas gratefully received.
TIA

Whereabouts are you? What are you looking to do exactly and what is approximate cost and funding you need?

I'm a trustee of a charity and have done a lot of fundraising and might be able to point you in right direction but need a bit more info and these are things you'll need to know before you can approach funders

agree where are you - I might be able to point you somewhere if you are in the right area
Have a look at this link - but you would probably want to look at insulation as well as upgrading the heating system

www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/In-your-home/Heating-and-hot-water/Understanding-your-system

also they have a help line 0300 123 1234.- might be worth a ring - don't work for them honest

Parish Council
Awards for All
if you have access through your PTA, look on the trustfunding website

We have a county association of voluntary services who give advice to charitable groups about grants for this sort of thing its probably worth a look to see if there's one in your area?

Thank you for all the replies. I shall investigate the suggestions you've given me but firstly I'll get some more information as to what we actually need at the hut to meet our requirements.
