Cardboard boxes. ARGH!

Trying to start packing things away such as cds, books etc. I have 9 flat packed boxes...and no tape. :( Any tips on how to make moving easier?

Just go to a storage place or your movers, buy about 30 boxes of large and small sizes, and masses of tape also newspaper and bubble wrap. Get some new marker pens and write exactly what's in the box, on the outside. Honestly, worth every penny.

Don't fill a big box with books, either use small ones or half fill with books and put cushions/bulky stuff on the top half.

We are unpacking at the moment and I am looking at boxes unhelpfully labelled "fragile stuff" and "stuff from cupboard under stairs" 6 months ago!

Yesterday I watched someone in my road pack up a van with all the boxes being exactly the same size. They just slotted in so easily.

I am packing with a small selection of random boxes nabbed from outside the local shops on recycling day :)

I never thought it was possible to be so jealous of cardboard!

Awaiting more tips .....

well you could start with buying some tape? Grin

How long have you got til you move?

If you've still got a while, just do a few boxes a day and do it gradually.

Get yourself some moving boxes if you can, like these on Amazon.

We moved last month, my top tips are:

Go onto eBay and buy a moving pack of cardboard boxes - specify the size you need according to no of bedrooms, ours was about 40 quid for a 4 bedroom pack, delivered next day, came with bubble wrap, pens, tape and v large bin liners. Came with 3 different size boxes, perfect for books, toys, games, kitchen equipment etc. Money very well spent as packing ourselves meant that our removal van cost was about a third of normal price.

Then go to a large tesco, get a load of those green fruit boxes they leave at the tills (for free!) - load of newspapers and these are perfect for cups and plates, food, paperbacks etc. Stack nicely.

That's it, all you need!

Good luck.

Those boxes are good gamble but you can get the exact pack from the same seller on eBay for £3 less.

Yes can also confirm eBay beat amazon for tight arsedness when we were looking too

For supreme tight arsedness use simply removals.co.uk for the move too like we did- with the warning that they are cheap an not -very cheerful and aren't quite as touchy feely with your possessions as your pickfords etc.
