gloss paint - why use?

Just looking at my gloss paint door surrounds. Do I really have to paint them with gloss? Hate gloss but would it look odd if I repainted them in matt?

How about satinwood or eggshell - half way between gloss and matt, and more modern than full gloss.

I think it's more robust than a matt finish. Eggshell/satin is nice - I would never use gloss!

If you're the one painting, accidentally shift to satin Wink

As long as you key the gloss you should go for eggshell, you can get this in matt and satin if you go to the mixing desk they will do it in the finish and colour you want.
so much nicer and not so in your face

Gloss is far more hardwearing.

There was a matt paint on the door surrounds when we moved in here. It may have been a very cheap paint, but it came off so quickly.

Have since repainted with gloss that has no marks on it...yet.
