Well I work at the university and think heslington village is lovely. Wish I could live there. Fulford also meant to be very nice.

MissKeithLemon · 16/04/2012 16:21

I think all of York is nice, but then I live in Leeds Grin

craftynclothy · 16/04/2012 16:27

I went to uni in York and think it's one of the lovliest places to live there is. Would love to move back one day. Like most places there are areas that aren't as nice as others.

StealthPolarBear · 16/04/2012 16:37

MissKL have you seen my Leeds meet up thread

BarryStar · 16/04/2012 16:44

I only know Fulford as my SIL lived there. She loved it, used to walk into the centre along the river.

MissKeithLemon · 16/04/2012 16:45

ooh no Stealth.... will look now!

hermioneweasley · 16/04/2012 16:47

It's lovely but very small for a city and virtually no ethnic diversity. I work in York but wouldn't choose to live there.

hanahsaunt · 16/04/2012 17:35

You need to get over to the York local board - loads there on moving to and buying in York. We made the move ~9 months ago for dh's work and so far, so good Smile.

IAmRubyLennox · 16/04/2012 18:05

ooh, craftynclothy, when did you graduate? Wondering now if I know you!

IAmRubyLennox · 16/04/2012 18:07

sorry, that hijack isn't helpful to the OP Blush

Heslington village is lovely, Fulford also very nice. I lived just on the city wall as a student and I loved it, but I guess probably your priorities as a family might be rather different.

Thank you all for the replies there very much appreciated, it is near Hull Road Park and pretty much behind the uni. I google mapped it and it looks nice. The owner of the York house is coming to see mine on wednesday (i live near Haworth in Bradford). So fingers crossed Smile, i unfortunatly know nothing about York except the bits i saw on a school trip as a child Grin

I too went to York university (and have come back 13 years after graduating :))

Hull Road is at the bottom a hill that goes up to the university. Hill is quite hard work on a bike (used to live that way when I was in second year Grin).

craftynclothy · 17/04/2012 11:12

IAmRubyLennox I graduated in 2004 but I did a 4 year course (straight for a Masters but no Batchelors iykwim) so started in 2000.

SparklyVampire I used to live on Hull Road in my 3rd & 4th year.

IAmRubyLennox · 17/04/2012 16:03

I must be older than both of you. Graduated in 1996. I lived in college in my first year, then on Scarcroft Road in second year and then in third year started off in Heworth but then managed to swing a room in college when the landlord decided to sell up half way through the year.

Those were the days... £30 a week for accommodation Shock

MirandaWest · 17/04/2012 18:35

I graduated in 1997 - lived in Tang Hall in second year and in the city centre in third year :) Was one of the university owned houses in third year - a prs one.
