Moving Tips!

After a very long, drawn out, and frustrating process, I was told today that we'll be completing on Friday.

I've never moved house properly before, just moved carloads of stuff between different student digs and then into DP's flat.

I know some on these boards are absolute pros and have moved across continents several times. I'm now panicking just a little that we only have a week to sort everything out.

What are your top tips for moving for a first timer?

They will pack everything (and I mean everything, including the rubbish in the paperbin I had forgotten to empty)

Wow shoshe you are obviously a moving veteran! Also watching with interest as we are moving soon, fingers crossed it all gore through as our last house fell through

We exchanged on the Wednesday and moved Friday . It was a bloody nightmare as I had been too frightened to pack much ( ornaments only )
We had boxes from the removal men on the previous Monday .
It was not enough time .
Not helped by the removal man who had been round to view and quote for the job , when doing the job keep saying
" youve got so much stuff , we're not going to fit it all in , I can't take paint , goldfish tank "

Aaargggh just do the work and stop making it worse for me ...

Deep breath , I'm ok now .

Make sure you have somewhere to sleep , and sit that first night .

Make sure you can make tea and coffee ( biscuits) ( wine )

A lovely neighbour bought over plates of sausage rolls and hot cross buns as we were moving out of the old house .

You will need food as moving is exhausting .

We had been in our house for 11 years , 2 adults and 2 teens so had a lot to move .

Label all the boxes and make lists

If anyone offers to help , say yes . Even if MIL put everything away in stupid places , it was at least put away !
