painting new plaster

I gave the new walls a coat of watered down emulsion this morning.

I will be painting them in Dulux - something like Natural Calico etc......

Do I need to give the walls another coat of white emulsion or do I go ahead with 2 coats of the Dulux??

We were told to do 2 coats of half and half before the main paint coat.

Don't know if t made a difference or not - in some places we didn't do the second coat of undercoat and I can't see that there is a big difference - I suppose it might save a bit in cash as you're less likely to need 2 coats of the top coat.

Thank you EGG. I think I'l go ahead with 2 coats of the Dulux. I've painted 5 ceilings today (my neck will hate me in the morning!) & I intend of giving them a couple of coats, yet i looks rather well with the one so I hope I can get away with just 1 coat for them (I really really do hope!!).

Cheers x

We normally do one coat half and half and then 2 coats with main colour. Emulsion is water based anyway, so in theory, all does the same job. Happy painting!

Thank you Lottiesinterior! I've already done two coats on 5 ceilings (hate hate hate it) but needs must & I have another coat to do tomorrow. Then I can do the fun bit of painting walls!
