My kitchen has an olive green paint on the walls. The cabinets are a yellowy cream (not too yellowy) and there is tongue and groove which is the same colour as the cabinets. I want to paint the tongue and groove a different colour as well as a wooden fireplace that houses our range cooker. Fireplace is also in this cream colour. I find it too much cream. I really don't know what colour to use to contrast the colours. Room gets a lot of light by the way and not small. Does anyone have inspiration?

Purple goes well with olive and cream but it might be a bit much in the large area you are painting.

Farrow and Ball Brinjal?

This is boring I know but I would go for a very very pale cream. Something like F&B Wimborne White.

You could paint the tongue and groove in something like F&B's stony ground or shaded white and then the fireplace in a more striking colour. Brinjal is a great choice, as already suggested.....or Pelt? The fact that the room gets a lot of light and is spacious means you can get away with strong, statement colour on the fireplace.

Thanks for your suggestions. I like the idea of going for a more striking colour for the fireplace but think it would be too much for all of it. Thanks for the other suggestions. I will look into them!

Yes. I agree. Mulberry or plumby type colours would work well with the olive tho'...but, yes.....in moderation! Good luck.
