The best blackboard paint???

I've been researching blackboard paint/magnetic paint sporadically for the last couple of years now, but now is the time to force dh to get a wall painted with blackboard paint. It is, if course, the key to all my organisational problems, so I need this done now, now, now! [bugrin]

IIRC, I think I read that the magnetic paint was hard to apply and pretty useless in terms of magnetic strength. Just wondering if anyone could tell me about their experiences and what brand they found the best (iirc, there was only a couple of brands anyway???). Thanks...

Hi
We used this:
www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=125223

Works well but you have to follow the instructions on number of coats. We use magnetic letters on ours and it worked better than I imagined. It's on a wooden panel tho - not on plaster.
Good luck

Hi, I'm thinking of trying to make my own blackboard paint using this recipe, as I'd like a blackboard wall but not black or green!

Thank-you!! Wow, making your own blackboard paint. Cool, but time consuming. Think I will go non-magnetic, because I looked into it again, and I thinik that perhaps because we are painting on plaster, it may be less effective.... thanks again...

Annie Sloan paint can be used as a 'blackboard' that isn't black. I have painted the front of my timber kitchen cupboard door with it to write shopping lists on, but it could be used on a wall too. It needs no primer, just three coats of paint according to the site here
