I have looked around for external lights, but there is not much choice outside the carriage style lighting which I absolutely HATE!
Please point me in the right direction.. House is new build in the countryside

We've used these in black but we specifically wanted corner lights. They're better than they look, chunky metal housing and glass shade.

If you look on ebay or somewhere under Exterior lighting you should come up with the professional/commercial ranges which are a lot more modern looking.

Try Garden Trading.

Check with Aurora for style. Their stockist Arrow Electricals have a lot of other (cheaper) brands in similar styles and they may be able to post. I only bought stuff from Cricklewood and whilst their telephone customer service is lacking, their prices and choice was really good (crap website though). Anyway, some food for thought.

Otherwise have you actually been to B&Q??

would you like a modern globe light?

a pearl globe looks better than clear, since most people would use CFLs (energy saving lamps) for this, and the cheapest are the Stick or Coil types which look rather odd.

Polycarbonate doesn't break; glass does.

bemybebe of course I have been to B&Q, and Homebase, and endless light shops for all the interior lights, but have found the selection of exterior lights to be limited and very samey!
Thanks for the tip too pigletJohn I was thinking It needs to be child friendly.
