Has anyone got a sunpipe/solar tube?

Am thinking about this as an option to brighten up our very dark hall - it has no natural light at all.

Does anyone have a sunpipe or solar tube, and if so would you recommend? Is it worth it? And roughly how much would we need to budget to buy one and get it installed?

Thanks in advance Smile

HI, I have two! They are upstairs in internal bathrooms. They work really well and I would definitely recommend. We got them from Solatube.

Thanks booface, do you mind me asking for ballpark price for purchase and installation? And was installation messy/time-consuming?

Thanks so much for quick reply!

They went in as part of a major renovation, so the cost of installation was included, but looking back in my records they allowed about £300 to fit both. The pipes themselves were £920 for two, but that included lights and fans which you might not need. The cost also depends on how much tube you need. If you are going from the hall all the way up to a roof two floors above I guess you would need a long tube! (or maybe its a bungalow?). But all in all I am very pleased with them, it feels like natural daylight just like they say

Thanks booface that's very helpful, I will get a quote from them!

We have some from lightupmyroom.com. It was just over £1000 for three tubes, plus about £500 for the builder to go up on the roof and install the top lights and flashings (we DIY'd the rest, it's not difficult). The only messy thing is cutting a round hole in the ceiling.

We haven't fully connected two of them yet but the other one gives excellent light.
