Renting flat out for the Olympics?

Is anyone actually doing this? I have seen a few websites advertising places to rent but wonder how realistic the advertised prices are. We have a flat near one of the Olympic venues in London and are wondering what to do!!

Not sure about the Olympics but my sister lives in Wimbledon and has hired her flat out a couple of times. I imagine top ranking tennis players are prepared to pay slightly more than athletes and it was a gorgeous flat, but she got £2k+ per week.

Watching with interest as we are considering the same for the Ryder Cup in Gleneagles.

You don't want to go through regular estate agents, you need to look at holiday rental agencies.

You would need to clear out or lock up your personal possetions and valuables. You would also need to contact your insurance company to make sure you are fully covered. Your mortgage company may be interested too, and you would need to declare your earnings for tax.

My friends husband is negotiating with their tenants in a rental house to pay the tenants to go on holiday so they can rent out the house room-by-room over the olympics!

I've heard good things about www.airbnb.com
