One budding interior designer needed please, because I am shit!

Decorating has never been my strong point, in fact I'm so shit I get someone else to do it

This is the wallpaper I'm having in the bedroom, only on one wall, and the rest in a plain paper. Now do I need to have something hanging above the bed? A picture, or something, or can I get away with just the wallpaper.

If you think I need something else, what should it be?

I should think just the wallpaper.
The only thing I would put against it is maybe a mirror? A picture would be too much IMO.

The wallpaper is lovely, and is a fantastic price per roll compared to what I expected it to be.

Why are you only doing one wall? TBH I think feature walls are on the way out (actually have been out for a while) and a bedroom would be lovely done completely in this.

In terms of additional decor - I agree, a mirror would be nice - possibly one with a glass frame, such as this although a collection of 3 black and white bird or botanical etchings in black frames would also be nice, but perhaps on another wall, not above the bed. I will have a hunt around for what I am thinking of.

Ceiling in Farrow & Ball lime white, with cornice in F&B pointing, if you have one.

Agree with Beryl, do all the walls. It's a pale enough background not to be too much.

I would also paper all the walls, feature walls can look a bit dated.
And yes to mirror rather than prints/paintings but I'd keep the wall above the bed plain.

I don't think I'd hang anything above the bed either. I think a mirror would look odd as it would be useless, if you had to hang something, a picture would be better but with a large plain border/frame on it to separate it from the paper.

Either do all the walls and keep all other soft furnishings very plain or forget the paper and do all the walls in a subtle shade of white and put huge painting in the style of the wallpaper over the bed and a large white mirror elsewhere.Then get a lovely patterned duvet coverlike this?

I was thinking about papering all of the walls, but the rooms not that big, and I reckon it would make it close in even more. What about doing two walls? Side by side or opposite though?

Somewhere in the garage, I've actually got three cream flying birds which used to hang on the walls in a previous house. I wonder what sort of state they might be in. May be worth me searching them out over the weekend!

McPhee, Have you decorated yet? How does it look?

I like the idea of panels of wallpaper, rather than a feature wall or all walls. Nice wallpaper by the way.

The big canvases you can buy are easily covered with wall paper, then hung up instead of papering.

We changed our minds about the wallpaper and went for this in the end. It just had more definition and wasn't so wishy washy. It's been put on opposite walls, with a biscuit coloured paper on the other two walls. All new white furniture from Ikea, and it looks bloody fab
