Amtico - Mumsnet verdict.

We have nasty laminate in hall and kitchen.

I want to replace it but it needs to be bullet proof and withstand 2 boys, scooters, general abuse.

Is Amtico worth the money? And does the wood effect one look naff/plasticky?

Well the house I live in now already had it when I moved in 6 years ago. It is in the hall, cloakroom, kitchen and breakfast room.

Mine is wood effect and I really like it. It does look 'real', in my opinion, my sisters certainly thought it was real, and I just use a steam mop on it once in a blue moon, regularly.

So much better than other flooring I have had. FWIW, one of my sisters has Kardean, sp?, and that is just as good. Hope this helps.

Love it, faff to get it put in ( you need level smooth floors) but easy to keep clean

I had it put in where I used to live. It is very hardwearing. I wouldn't use it again though; it always looked 'faux' to me. I prefer real wood or stone now.

We have it in our bathroom - it's been down for 11 years and still looks great, despite our ill treatment of it. It's expensive though - our bathroom is postage stamp-sized, otherwise we probably couldn't have afforded it.

We considered it for a kitchen but got put off by someone who said their's had been ruined by sand from the sandpit.

Love it. We have a large open plan kitchen/dining/living space (plus a home office) in white Linear. It's been down for 4 years but still looks perfect despite my DS riding round the kitchen island on his balance bike & diddy car.

Great stuff, but bloody expensive.
MrNC is insisting on Amtico for our loft bathroom. Result is no bathroom for a couple years while we save up...

We have it in the main bathroom and it's slate effect and looks lovely.
