Hello, we've just moved into our first home and the lounge has this wallpaper on one wall
www.decorsupplies.co.uk/epages/decorsupplies.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/decorsupplies/Products/HAR-ANO-WP-110005

The rest of the walls are painted to match the background. Now I love ethnic furniture, but don't think it will go...... or will it?
Should i stick to boring oak?
This is the kind of thing i like furniture wise......

I decorated the walls without really thinking :( And DP is bored of the topic

I think you could have a mix of both. I love the intricate table in your link but I think (unless your room is huge) that more than a couple of pieces like that will be overkill.

I would get some plain furniture like this, and a couple of key pieces like a coffee table and maybe a mirror in the intricate design, and that should give you an indian feel without going OTT. You could also get some cushions or throws with an oriental design if you think it needs more.

I like your wallpaper and your link!

I love old Indian things and have one or two bits myself. Not so keen on modern chunky stuff.

aw thanks! yeah, i don't want to go OTT hippy-style, but think a small side table or coffee table can look so good. And I would rather own a work of art than a lump of wood IYKWIM

I think it would go - that wallpaper actually has a slightly Indian feel to me. (think Paisley which is originally from India).

If the other walls are plain, and most furniture is plain, I think you can have one intricate wall and a few intricate bits of furniture without it being OTT.
