Cream gloss kitchen but what work top?

I really like the idea of a cream handle free kitchen but am stuck about what work top to get. Had loved the idea of dark wood but have been put off about the up keep if wood. What else would you put with it baring in mind we are probably going to have a dark floor of some kind?

We put in a handleless cream gloss kitchen last week , with oak worktops. Looks stunning but I'm a nervous wreak everytime my stepsons go in there . I've let them off doing the dishes , and I'm not sure ill want them to do them again . So scared of black mould !

That's my worry. Mould, water marks, burn marks. Constant oiling! I have two young kids and just want hassle free!

All depends what your looking to spend on the top

cheapest - laminate
then - wood
then - granite
then - quartz
then - corian

but again the order does depend of the colours you chose

We've got cream gloss with these
They do need rubbing back and oiling every 6-12 months, but they're loooovely (imo)

Cheaper than solid wood and more eco too

I have a cappuccino gloss kitchen and wood effect Karndean and have this laminate in Antique Bonito - marble effect and it works really well. Very practical but looks really good for a laminate - is good quality and matt.

My parents have a dark wood fake laminate and it looks amazingly good and I was a bit when I saw it as I always have real wood and am a slave to teh oil!

noddy do you know where their laminate came from? Am wondering about this as have heard some good reports of laminate and it sounds much easier than real wood.

We were going to get wood but then two couples we knew took their wood out and replaced with laminate as the wood was a faff, and one kept scorching the wood with hot things.

I am way to much of a slattern for messing about with oil, it takes me all my time to oil my chopping board so we got laminate too, oak, butchers block effect.

call them and tell them where you live and they will give you the nearest supplier as you cant buy direct from them

Laminates are gen all the same quality, the thing to look for when looking at the different companies is the lengths of the worktop. eg Duropal do all in 4100mm
so may mean you buy less lengths, but they all will send you out samples direct.
They are less maintenance than the wood, but depends what type of kitchen your going for.
If you looking at a painted bespoke/ inframe type shaker (from your links) and spoke to the suppliers of the kitchen the chances are they wouldn't suggest laminate to you due to the overall look as even though the wood needs a light sand and oil every 6/9mnths you cant get away from the fact it looks real, natural and will compliment the units.

Also the size of the kitchen matters. My parents have a small amount of laminate in their flat and it looks good. It is scrubbable too which is amazing. Also if you have a straight run with no joins it looks more 'real'. A big area and a bespoke painted kitchen for eg looks better with wood.

I have a cream gloss handless kitchen and went for a brown granite island. The granite has some orange running through it. Much nicer than it sounds :)
I tried a flat brown and it looked rubbish.

In my last house I had solid wood worktops and they were a nightmare! The area around the sink became mouldy despite my best efforts to keep it all dry, it stains very easily once it needs re-oiling, and then the oiling itself is a pain. We are just deciding on a replacement kitchen in our current home, and probably will go with cream gloss with walnut effect laminate purely because it's so functional! Can I just ask where the cream handleless kitchen can be found? I've seen it in White but really wanted cream!

we have gloss cream and dark blue granite tops.

I've just had a white high gloss kitchen put in and have the most amazing perspex worktops with a stainless steel trim on the edges. They look like lovely pale blue glass. Gorgeous, love em. I have a wooden floor so didn't also want wood on the worktops, and couldn't justify the price of granite as have a lot of worktop, a u-shaped kitchen plus a big breakfast bar.

I got our kitchen from Wickes . They were great . There is also one in Magnet but they came out costing more .

I've seen one I like in Howdens too although no idea how much it costs!
