Contacting land owner??

Not sure if this is the right place to post but I need help contacting the owner of waste land our home backs on to.

Basically there is a very very large row of conifer hedges on the other side of our fence which we really want cut down (over 20ft tall + small new build garden = no light)

I'm having no luck with pestering our HA as they see no problem. I think I should contact the land registry but I'm not really sure what to do :(
Anyone have any ideas?
Desperate :(

I'd try your local council first - they may well know who the owner is.

Thanks mini, do you have to pay for that though?

It costs you around £8 from the Land registry and you get their last registered address. IME local councils are completely useless at this and often don't even know if they own land or not.

Thanks liz Smile can I do it online? Is there a specific thing I need to ask for to get the right information ? Sorry questions Blush

You can do it on-line just makes sure it is actual Land registry and you should be able to get title deeds - owner.

Post Code and/or address normally required. Can all be done online and documents available straight away! You may only need the title document which I think is £3/£4.

waste land might not be quite so easy since it probably has no address and no postcode. I don't know how you'd do it in that case. Let us know if you find out...

SoupDragon · 07/03/2012 16:56

If you go to the Land Registry site (and this link may not work!) you can do a map search which allows you to find land which has no postcode.

buttonpups · 07/03/2012 17:32

Oh thank you soupdragon ! That's really helpful Grin I've found the land which the conifers are on and I can choose a title register or a title plan? What's the difference? All I need is the owners contact details, and possibly a boundary plan to make sure it's defo his/hers land.

I think the plan just gives you a little map showing the boundaries and the title should give you the information you want.

buttonpups · 07/03/2012 19:26

Thank you soup, they have examples of the titles I can purchase. The register is looking like the one I need with addresses etc. the plan though has the map of what's owned but it doesn't say of it has contact details. I'd rather have both so I know I'm definitely contacting the right person? Confused.com Blush
