Was this really cheeky

My letting agent put my flat on Rightmove, with a rental amount included, without consulting me about how much I was looking for! I am quite indignant about this especially as it seems the rent being asked is too low! Can I assume this is not recommended practise, surely??

I know of an agent who did this and it didn't end well. Can you use someone else?

Ponyofdoom · 06/03/2012 21:49

Thanks, yes; I got an estimate from another agent this evening and it was £100 pcm more so I will be going with them! The cheeky agents have got someone coming to view the place later this week even though I told them to hang fire! Grr.

I wouldn't deal with someone who acts so unprofessionally. Don't go through with the viewing - it's probably one of their mates anyway - all to show what great agents they are!

What else will they do without telling you?

wrong wrong wrong.. hope you get things sorted. it is YOUR flat! x

Thank you, he can't go ahead with the viewing as he doesn't have a key though he did try to get it from the departing tenant. I do wonder whether his rental figure is actually more accurate, but after him trying to railroad me like that I want to go with the other agent anyway. He also appeared to tell me a porky pie about it being on Rightmove. He said he tried to ring me and I didn't answer which is true as I cant answer the phone at work but he could have texted or emailed. Grr again!
