Children's curtains

I'm trying to choose curtain fabric for dd's room. She's 20 months and I want something that's bright and cheerful without being babyish, so it will last a good few years, as the window is large and I can't get ready made ones and will be forking out for made-to- measure.

I like bold Scandi prints like Marimekko and Hus and Hem, but I can't find anything on their websites that are quite perfect. I definitely don't want pink princessy stuff. Any ideas?

Some nice fabrics under the kids' section on this site

and lots of marimekko style stuff here

and this site seems to have lots of bold/bright prints

Also try Designers Guild and Malabar?

Ooh thanks, these are great. I'm especially loving the Celtic Fusion fabrics. But now I've gone from nothing being quite perfect to liking too many and being spoilt for choice!

After extensive trawling of various kids curtain websites for DD1 (who is admittedly older than your DD) I've ordered today from 247 Curtains who had exactly the same fabric as one of the kids curtain sites, at a much cheaper price. Scroll down for their more interesting fabrics (we have gone for Ella).

Their Scandia range looks pretty good for what you are looking for (I don't work for them - honest - just relieved that instead of paying £125 per pair of curtains, I was able to spend £80!)

Thanks Bramshott, good tip. The Ella ones are lovely.

I have red and white thin bright stripes for ds's room, they have a bit that folds over on the top and look like something from a circus tent. I love them and think they will lasts for years.

Kids Fabrics is great, reasonable prices, but fab curtains and excellent customer service.

Malabar have some amazing children's fabrics. They are stunning, handbags appliquéd on to cotton in all sorts of funky material. Embroidered birds and my son who loves his sport went for the design Stadium which has cricket bats and tennis rackets appliquéd on. I think the collection is called Kinderworld and it is definitely available in John Lewis. Check out www.Malabar.co.uk
