so, our fireplace is an empty hole
We've had it checked and swept and it's good to go. But what do we put in it?
We can't afford £2.5k for a woodburner
Have looked at reclaimed and repriduction cast iron affairs. They're pretty cheap on eBay, but a) I think it might cost£££ to install (no diy skills, we'd have to get someone in and b) our house is 1920s, the only period with no discernible style and I'm worried a bit of Victorianana might look out if place
So option 3 is just build a hearth - but what out of? Bricks? Currently no hearth just concrete flush with the floor and have a firebasket on this and an oak beam for a mantle
Wha should I do? I'm just going around in circles. Anyone got any ideas or experience that might help me decide?
