Much interest in a shared ownership HOUSE?

We are thinking of selling our shared ownership 3 bed house in the spring. Just wondering if there would be much interest in it, do you think?

There seem to be quite a lot of shared ownership flats but very few houses... Has anyone bought a "second hand" ie not straight from the housebuilder, shared ownership house?

On the plus side it is a walkable (just) distance to the local station and then 25min to Euston, countryside/village location but ten min drive to big local town, good local primary catchment- but COE- Not sure if that is a plus or minus to buyers?

On the minus side I think we will have to sell without an agent if possible or we can't afford to move as we will lose too much of our deposit... feel like it will be an uphill struggle...

Any experiences?

Not personally, but a former colleague bought a shared ownership house a few years ago, from people already living there. I remember her being quite anxious about getting it because as you say, houses are relatively rare and because of that there was a lot of interest. She has since relocated to a different part of the country, and as far as I am aware they didn't have any trouble selling it on. Hope that is encouraging!

We live in a SA house but bought it 6 years ago so probably not relevant now. afaik SA houses sell better than 100% houses.. they are certainly not on the market for long round here.

Thank you that is great news!

We have had a RICS surveyor round this morning to value it (as per our contract).

Have everything crossed it hasn't dropped in value, just maintaining for four years would be ok, a rise of 5k would be brilliant...

Methe, did you buy from the housebuilder direct or was it "2nd hand" lol!

Also, may i ask roughly where in the country you are?

My colleague's house was in Surrey.

We are in the west mids. We bought it from previous owners and saw it advertised in the papers, We were the 2nd people to view it but the first lot offered but then could'nt get the mortgage. The other half is owed by Midland Heart.
