If you have a double kitchen sink, what can you fit underneath it?

Would really like to have a double sink in our new kitchen and am having a go at working out a general design.
If any of you have a double sink, what do you have under it in terms of units/pull out bins etc?
Our current sink is only a 1.5 bowl but the space under it is unused other than storing random kitchen cleaning materials in a right old jumble...

You need to be cunning with the waste pipes. I've noticed with Ikea sinks they run the waste from the plug to the back of the unit, then the trap (sticking down bit) is at the back near the wall. This leaves room for a decent amount of bins, drawers or couple of shelves in the rest of the unit. I am going to have recycling bins stood in a drawer under my double sink, bought them today in fact.

If left to their own devices plumbers normally just put a bottle trap under the plughole leaving a big obstruction in the middle of the cabinet.

and in fact I'm getting a plumber round tomorrow to refit the plumbing under mine....I can't even fit a bottle of flash liquid underneath because it's such a mess. Looking forward to more order in the under-the-sink cupboard .

I think plumbers can just get the job done quickly or they can try to do it neatly and taking up minimal space so worth getting the plumber to understand you want it done nicely.

Thanks, was looking at the IKEA website and they have lots of good pull out bins which could work if the plumbing was kept neat and to at the back.

Our sink plumbing is also very messy and I cant see anything stored there, so have ended up with 4 bottles of washing up liquid!

fossil did you get your bins from IKEA?
We have a lot of recycling so am wondering what the best options are, not sure it will all fit under the sinks, even though we will have a 1000 base unit!

Yes I did get Ikea bins, I don't have an Ikea drawer but guess they will fit in somehow. Two large one small and my own compost caddy. But then our council has gone to a two bag system so don't need to sort too much. I don't expect to fit a fortnight's recycling in there though, just to sort stuff and take out to the bins/bags outside every few days.
