Is it normal for vendors to leave a house filthy?

It seemed normal and clean when we went round to view.

We've just spent several days dumping filthy carpets in a tip. The end of the garden is about 3" think with rabbit droppings and manure. We even found a green, humming loaf of bread down there. The upstairs loo was crusted brown. We are having professional cleaners in!

You'd think they moved in a hurry, but the sale took ages to finalise...

Is it normal?

Hmm, well we had unforeseen issues that meant our purchase took longer than expected. Although we felt justified in the delay, it may be that the vendors saw only the impact on their move and this is how they expressed it. A dirty protest Confused?

As an update, after 6 hours of cleaning today the cleaner had to leave the insides of cupboards and the oven dirty. She had another client and had found the house too bad to be able to finish.

And this even though it's STILL EMPTY! No furniture to clean around (we are staying with relatives until we get it sorted.)
