Really like one. Just wondering how they wear? Are you pleased with it?

I think they are lovely but the website says you can't use them if the stair noses (?) are cornered rather than rounded. Mine are cornered so I can't have one - but that makes me think they are not desperately resiliant.

Dauphin · 15/02/2012 15:56

Oh that's interesting. Yes, does make you wonder whether cornered would eventually become worn more quickly. We are having staircase made and probably would have rounded nose, but will check that out margo...thanks.

Oh well if you have the choice, do have the rounded nose anyway. My staircase was refurbished and I didn't know about the rounded/square thing so didn't specify and square is terrible not only for this reason but also if you fall down stairs (which I have, my nephew has and my son has - we're obviously not very stable as a family!) it's incredibly painful to fall on a hard wooden corner as opposed to a rounded edge.

they are gorgeous, but can I just say when I opened the thread I had an image of a guy called roger oates who runs up and down stairs, am a little bit disappointed.

They are lovely (friend has one) but not that hard wearing. When they install they even give you instructions as to the appropriate way to walk on it to maintain it's life! VVVexpensive too!

Sorry to disappoint dita!

Thanks cyb. Wink I shall have a look...

Hello Dauphin (& others), they are beautiful, and on the pricey side, however they hard wearing and last a long time. We just had ours replaced after 17 years with a new design, and it looks AMAZING! If your stairs twist and turn (like ours) they follow the line of the stair without losing any of the design. We used a company in Surrey who have large samples so you can see how they look on the stairs. Not sure where you are, but worth Googling - best to check if they are registered with Roger Oates first though, as it isn't like fitting normal carpet.....it is more like a woven material. The nice fitters told us this when putting ours in. Oh, and you can have it fitted with stair rods, or without - up to you depending on your preference. We used our existing ones which came off easily and went back on after. Good luck!

PS Just looked up my order and it was a company called Higherground. It says on their website they cover a wide area - might be worth checking out. ; )

That surprises me - I have now had a couple of Roger Oates stair runners installed and the service has always been outstanding. The fitters know what they are doing - makes a difference to normal carpet fitters who can lack care for the finishing details. Very good service in all respects IMHO.
