Ikea Edland colour match?

secondthought · 07/02/2012 20:50

I'm thinking of getting the Ikea Edland range in my bedroom but am getting wardrobes made by our builders. Does anyone know a colour in Dulux or Crown (or another easy to find, reasonably priced) paint that is the same as the Edland range?
I know there is the option of taking a piece of the furniture in to a DIY shop to get a colour match but we're probably not going to get the drawers and bedside tables till we've moved in and I'm not sure I can face a trip to Ikea before we have to!

Why not go for a toning colour instead

It looks like a dark grey woodstain (i.e. translucent and you can see the woodgrain through), how about using the Ikea Behandla stains and see if you can mix black and a touch of white?

There are woodstains that come in lots of colours but they don't tend to be cheap or come in small tins!

Thanks! Good suggestions. Hadn't heard of those Ikea stains so will look in to it. A toning colour might be a bit beyond me and my lack of creativity!

I've got the drawers and the bureau desk thing in the ikea edland range. I love it, it's a bit different to "bog-standard ikea" It's quite dark though, so make sure it won't make your room look dark or small.

Please be careful OP, I tried to order a chest of drawers from the range the other week (having bought something matching in store) and they bloody cancelled the order! Apparently they were out of stock - and weren't prepared to send me one of the 23 they had kicking around in the Milton Keynes store...

Sorry, meant to add that I think they might be discontinuing the range.

That's usefu, thanksl. Better plan a trip to Ikea sooner rather than later. Really like the Edland range, will be a real shame if they discontinue it. Advice from family members is to paint the fitted wardrobes the same colour as the bedroom walls (v.pale grey) and have the Edland bedside tables and chest of drawers as a contrast. Assuming I can get them. Might try and get Edland handles for the wardrobes so it looks more co-ordinated.

if you have a digital camera, you can get a test card in the sampler booklet from a dulux shop, hold it up against the thing you want to match, email it to dulux, and they will analyse the colour for you.

the sampler has a hole in the middle, and blobs of various standard colours on it, so they can adjust for any inaccuracies caused by lighting or your camera.

that means you can photo things in shops before you've bought them, and haven't got to carry your sofa or wardrobe into the paint dealer's.

Other paint manufacturers may have a similar system, I don't know.

Thanks PigletJohn, haven't heard of that before. Seems like all this might be academic anyway as had a look at the stock after LadyEmmaHamilton's post and it doesn't seem to be available in any store. Don't know if they are planning to restock or that's it for Edland. Sad
