At what point will the survey be done?

We have accepted an offer on our house...first time buyers

Seemingly they had a certificate saying that they would have no problem getting a mortgage which they have shown to the EA, along with their ID so they do sound genuine.

The EA told us that the couple were sorting their mortgage out over the week (just gone) so i was just wondering if anyone knew how quickly a survey would be asked for?

I've not done this for a while and am getting a bit jittery in case they've changed their mind :S

Well I would hope more quickly than our bloody buyers. Accepted their offer late November - they had their building survey done just before Christmas. We are STILL waiting for their mortgage company to instruct a valuation survey and frankly the delay is now in danger of breaking the whole chain!

I would say 2 weeks and max 2.5 weeks is the time when survey is booked. Once survey is booked then things will start rolling fast.
Now days banks do take this much time in assessing ur application and docs and manytime banks do ask for more docs from the applicants, so this will stretch a bit more say 2-3 days more.

Thanks for that...i guess it figures that they won't order a survey till the bank are sure they're going to lend you the money, and even when they've agreed in principle there's all the farting around getting payslips etc!

Stressful or what!?!

We applied for our mortgage last Tuesday and the survey was done on Monday which the bank approved yesterday, should get it all wrapped up the end if next week.!our buyers put offer in on a Saturday and the following Friday the survey was done.

i don't know what's going on with ours then!

We are in exactly the same place, except we are the buyers...
we have given in all docs and are now waiting on the final mortgage approval thingy...
we had a mortgage in principle when we made our offer, but have just spent the last week gathering docs and sorting will's.

We are hoping to complete on or before march 17th to avoid paying Stamp duty.

As first time buyers I expect your buyers will be trying to do everything pretty sharpish to make this deadline, and I can't see them pulling out of a sale now either.

Good luck!

(they have until the 24th march BTW)

paddyclamp · 07/02/2012 19:17

Thanks for that Betty .... yes they've made it clear that they want to be in by 24th March, and we've promised to vacate ours by then even if our purchase hasn't gone through!

paddyclamp · 07/02/2012 20:38

it's only because we have somewhere to stay :)

the house we are buying is empty so hoping they will want things to move quickly!

Oh that sound like a nice chain.
The people we are buying from are frantically looking for somewhere ATM,they looked at 6 housesin one day last week!
I'm crossing my fingers they find a nice chain free place really soon! Grin
