That's about it unless you have any arrangement fees for a mortgage. Stamp duty is the killer imo!

hifi · 06/02/2012 17:49

ive worked out up to now we will need about 50k before we even get in anywhere.still have to arrange a mortgage and didnt think of those fees, thanks.

How did you get to 50k, seems excessive

hifi · 06/02/2012 18:48

8.5k estate agents and 36k stampduty,i estimated the rest.

So are you in 5 % stamp study land. Thought we were bad spending 11 k.

hifi · 06/02/2012 19:54

i think its 4%,properties we are looking at are about 850K but would love to get cheaper, problem is everything seems to be going in days? 11k is still a whack, for what? bloody government.

If you can afford an 850k house you bloody well should pay a big stamp duty whack.

hifi · 07/02/2012 00:50

why?

Stamp duty is the biggest con going, I'm not sure how they justify it.

hifi · 07/02/2012 21:53

I know, the poster above said we should be able to afford it,an yes we are going to have to.it still doesn't take away giving the gov a huge amount of money.
