Which paint/carpet colour would 'work' here?

We get the keys to our new house next week :) and need to paint over one wall.

Three walls are a creamy colour which is fine, but the fireplace wall has a big modern floral print in green, brown and silver which I'm not keen on.

Just not sure which colour of paint to use so am looking for suggestions/links from you please.

My colours in the living room are chocolate brown sofa, pale mustard curtains, a bronze lamp, dark wood furniture and cushions which have rust, olive green, gold, brown and burgundy tones. (written down it does not sound nice but I promise it is)

Also any suggestions for carpet colours would be greatly appreciated.

Why not pick one of the colours from the cushions for the wall - maybe the olive green? And then a warm cream carpet, picking up on the colour of the curtains.

I'm not sure that just painting over the wallpaper will work very well, though, but I'll leave that up to someone else to comment on.

I was thinking olive green.

It's not a shiny wallpaper, more like a printed......damn what's that word? ana-something?
Will go and buy a tester pot and see if it sticks.
