Does anyone know a good kitchen fitter in Canterbury? My father is getting quite elderly and lives in a house he and my mum bought in the late 70s. The kitchen has never been replaced and now looks terrible. DH and I have decided to bite the bullet and get him a new one. I went to Homebase saw a kitchen I liked and was quoted from £1500 to £4000 for fitting (depending on whether electrics had to be involved). This is more than the kitchen units themselves. I've read on money saving sites it's cheaper to employ and independent fitter as the big stores will take a large cut of the tradesman's pay.
My father has health issues and can't do any of the planning work himself.

Gas Safety Plus - based in Whitstable - don't know if they would travel to Canterbury but it's only 15/20mins away.
I've used this company for bathroom fitting and central heating work.
I spoke to them about kitchen fitting and they said what they couldn't do themselves they would know the trademen who could.
I found them very reliable and trustworthy and competitive on price. They get good reviews on Checkatrade too.

Should add that although I didn't have a quote from this firm for a kitchen, I had already asked several other firms in the area to quote to install a very simple Ikea kitchen (about 9' x 6', units supplied by us) remove old tiles, make good walls, renew electrics and most of them came in around the £3-4000.

Thanks Greentown that's really useful info. I will ring them.

Housedoctors are based in Canterbury and come recommended by 2 friends who live there.

I had my kitchen done (IKEA Adel) in November and the guys did a brilliant job and were very professional. They were so good I asked them to do my bathroom refit and they are upstairs as I am typing this! They are based in Crayford - M.S. Installations. I really recommend them.
