taking out our bath and putting in a big shower

We've got a bath which I'd like to replace with a big walk-in shower. We will still have a small bath in our en suite, but don't use the larger one in the bathroom. Has anybody done this and have they got any tips? The other problem is that one of the walls has got a large window in it. Is this going to give me grief?

The window shouldn't be a problem. If water will be going anywhere near it, you'll need to completely tile around it and inside the recess, and ask your tiler to lay the base of the recess with a slight fall so that any water runs out into the shower cubicle. You might also need to think about privacy Grin. If you want a walk in shower, be aware that spray will travel around 1.5m from where you stand, so make sure you have enough protection on the floor, and that the glass comes along far enough. I'd recommend you have a tray rather than wetroom style unless it's on the ground floor. Wetrooms are notorious for leaking.

Have you got the option of keeping the bath in the family bathroom and having the shower in the ensuite? Only thinking that if you're going to sell the house on at some point in the future, most people (sweeping generalisation) especially those with small children will want a bath in the main bathroom.

My sister has just had the bath in her ensuite replaced with a huge double walk in shower - looks amazing :-)
