Wood flooring - narrow or wide boards?

Would be great to get some opinions on this...

We have finally chosen some wooden flooring for the lounge & hallway. Have gone for a lovely dark oak colour & only thing left is to choose between floorboard sizes. We have the options of either 5" or 7.5", both are multiply flooring. The wider version is winning at the mo but wondered if it will date more than the narrower board. Not planning on redoing the floor for a long time, so i'm after something timeless.

Wide!
Much nicer, they look much more generous than narrow boards and also I think they are timeless, the original boards in our last house were wide and they looked fantastic.

definitely wide!

for all the reasons pannacotta gave! :D

Wide without a doubt.

Wide.
Narrow only for a specific period look.

Just to confuse you, we have just gone for a mixture of 3 different widths and love the effect, it adds depth somehow, so it doesn't look so uniform? We had 20% narrowest and 40/40 of the wider ones.

Wider is nicer, much less "busy".

wide...makes room look bigger

Unanimous for wide boards then! thanks very much.
