We have a large kitchen but i feel it was badly planned for the longer term and we have an island in the middle but given we now have more children than stools i'm considering moving the island cupboards against the walls and putting the table in the middle where the island was.
I think it'll all work providing i can find a reasonably price carpenter but wonder how much people would expect it to cost and a large kitchen without an island would that put off potential buyers/renters in the future ?

I don't think it would put buyers off as the space will be more versatile. My kitchen has a large island (bought house with kitchen already refurbed and in situ) which was a black mark against buying as it means the table is crammed against a wall. I would love to remove it - but I took off the skirting boards and the flooring of grey slate/stone does not go under it and can't match it up - yours could be the same?More than just a job for a carpenter in my case.

I think re do the floor at the same time, we have very nice lino down but i'd prefer the bamboo to go throughout the house i think, continuity.
Thanks for replying.
