I am waiting to hear if an offer has been accepted on a property. I am wondering if I am being played. I put in an offer and apparently two other similar offers went in too, and the buyer would be making a decision today. It is a renovation property. I am not finding it easy to find suitable property, renovation projects or done up nicely to vaguely my taste and needs. I have seen one on the market for a while which I discounted as the three offers in two years rejected, it is a divorce and wife lives there, she rejected all previous offers, would I be wasting my time giving that house a viewing if I don't get the renovation house?

Impossible to know but you are right to be suspicious. If and when the EA comes back to you to increase your offer, just decline and state your offer is open for two weeks. You may find you get a call back in a few days.

Of course, if the seller of the renovation property is still living there, a note throught the door stating your offer may do no harm.

Regarding the second house, no harm in viewing at all, it is after all up for sale. You can only offer what you think it is worth, and it is the seller's perogative to accept or reject it. Simply because a particular offer has been previously rejected does not mean that a lower offer made now would also be rejected. Many people regret not accepting previous offers and are hoping someone will give them a get-out-of-jail-free card. Many will be disappointed.

I should say that if the info you have been given regarding previous offers has come from an EA, be very suspicious.

Good luck.
