Has anyone been? What is t like, is it worth traveling to? It is 2 hours from me so the savings would have to be worth it!

What is it please?

annieapple7 · 13/01/2012 22:46

Hi BleatingRose
It is a furniture store where they sell off M and S, Laura Ashley etc stuff apparently very cheaply but there is no website showing stock, you just have to turn up and can take away on the day. Wondering whether it is worth taking a chance.

Ah, thank you! Smile

I've been and they do have some good bargains, but I'd ring first if you're looking for a particular item. When you buy something, they want you to take it away with you, so you'd need a small van if you're planning on buying wardrobes, beds etc. You could combine it with a visit to the Fired Earth showroom which is right next door. :)

They used to have a website with a list of stuff; think you had to register for it. Having said that don't think I've seen one for a while.

Another vote for ringing up if you know what you want. Or even if you have a vague idea of what you want (leather sofa, child's bed) and they will be able to tell you.

I have been there - a year or so ago. DH not so impressed but I like browsing. I think go with an open mind about what you want to get or you might be disappointed. You will need transport to take away your purchases too I think. It quite close to Oxford so you could always combine it with a touristy day out.

Thank you! I'd been racking my brains to remember what this place was called! I've been a couple of times; once with friend who found enough lovely stuff to kit out her entire home in France. The other time a bit so so. May have another look again.

newgirl · 15/01/2012 19:08

just been on their site - apparently you can arrange delivery

IWantMyHatBack · 15/01/2012 19:12

Where is it?

encantada · 06/12/2012 11:15

The staff in the warehouse are helpful enough but beware of this company's poor delivery service. I purchased a (very) large chest of drawers only to be told afterwards that their delivery man did not deliver on Saturdays (!!). Had to take holiday form work to wait in for him. Then when he finally arrived (late) the delivery man refused to unpack the box or place the chest in the location I wanted. When I complained and pointed out that I would not be able to move it on my own he just shrugged his shoulders. He then stated that it would be the same if delivered by John Lewis. This I know to be untrue because a friend of mine purchased John Lewis furniture and they placed it exactly as she asked. Now I have to unpack and then move a huge chest of drawers on my own. Beware!!!

I didn't think it was that great
We visit it en route to the in laws and also pop to the fired earth shop next door(they have a clearance section were we have picked up some bargains)
You could also combine with a visit to Bicester village for other shopping!
In chipping norton there is also a massive antique shop called ststion antiques that sells great stuff at very reasonable prices ,oh and Annie Sloan paint as well
