Non-drip painting

Because I don't want to move everything out of the room, I'm planning to paint one wall at a time. What's the best way to paint and avoid drips and splashes?

Rollers don't splash if you roll them fairly slowly. If you whizz them about, paint flies off in all directions. You can get cotton dustsheets surprisingly cheaply at builders merchants or Wickes, they are not slippery to walk on like the plastic sheet, which you can drape over everything.

Start with the ceiling and work down, so you don't get drips on things you've already done.
